Accessibility

People with disabilities represent a significant and growing part of our population. According to Statistics Canada, about 1.5 million Ontarians have disabilities — about 13.5% of the population. It is estimated that 20% of the population will have disabilities in two decades. In the Town of Ingersoll that represents over 4,000 people.

The Town of Ingersoll has established an Accessibility Advisory Committee to advise Council each year about the preparation, implementation and effectiveness of the Town's accessibility plan. The Committee is comprised of a majority of members with disabilities.

The Committee's mandate is to advise Council on the accessibility for persons with disabilities to a building, structure or premises that Council purchases, constructs or significantly renovates or leases, including reviewing Site Plans and drawings.

If you are interested in being a member on this committee, we invite you to respond, in writing to,
