Penalty and Interest Charges

Penalty and/or Interest charges are levied on outstanding principal @ 1.25% levied on the first day of default of payment and on the first day of each month thereafter. Pursuant to the Municipal Act S.O. 2001, S.347(1), as amended by Bill 177, partial payments are first applied to all outstanding penalty/interest charges, oldest to newest, then to taxes, oldest to newest until applied in full

Applications and qualification data sheets are available at the Municipal Tax Office and on the town’s website at the link above. If you are not registered in the PAP plan and wish to participate you should contact the tax office as soon as possible to register, some restrictions apply. In person at Town Hall

Taxes are payable at the Town Hall, 130 Oxford Street, 2nd floor,during the hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, unless otherwise posted. There is an after hours deposit slot located at the front entrance to Town Hall


By mailing your payment

Failure to receive payment in the tax office on/by the due date will result in penalty charges for which the taxpayer assumes the responsibility. The date you mail your remittance does not constitute date of payment

Banks

Payments can be made at your individual branch, in person, by internet or by telephone banking at TD, CIBC, Royal Bank, Bank of Montreal and Scotia Bank. Please use your roll number as your account number.

Trust Company’s and Credit Unions

Please check with your Trust Company or Credit union to see if they have the Town of Ingersoll is set up as a Payee for payments within the branch, through the internet or by telephone banking. Please use your roll number as your account number.

Post Dated Cheques

Many ratepayers find it convenient to provide post dated cheques for the payment of their property taxes. Please make cheques payable to The Town of Ingersoll.

Returned Payment Fee

The municipality will charge a fee of $25.00 to the tax account to cover the processing of returned payments for any reason.

If you receive a tax notice and your mortgage company is responsible for paying taxes on your behalf, please forward your notice to them for payment and have them provide notification to the property tax department

If you no longer own the property for which you have received a Tax Notice, please notify the Town of Ingersoll Property Tax Department immediately


Payment of Supplementary/Omitted Tax Notices

Supplementary/Omitted Tax Notices may be issued for changes to property that affects property tax classes, new construction, additions or renovations. Payment of this tax notice is in addition to any Interim or Final tax notice and is due in ONE installment. Payment options are as listed above.


Supplementary Tax Information

Supplementary tax notices may be issued for changes to properties that affect property tax classes, new construction, additions or renovations. Prior to receiving this Supplementary Tax Notice you should receive a "Notice of Supplementary or Omitted Assessment" from the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) which contained details of the supplementary assessment.

In the case of a new building the land is billed for taxes by an Interim and Final Tax Notice and the unit is billed for taxes by a Supplementary Tax Notice, pro rated to the effective date. The following year, the assessment for the land and the unit should be combined for billing as Interim and Final Taxes. Supplementary Tax Notice(s) may be issued with effective dates for the current taxation year and/or the two prior taxation years.
