Role Description
Make an impact by helping clean litter from parks near you! Come together to help keep our parks clean and beautiful. Park Clean-ups are an easy and fun way for you to volunteer and make a difference in your community. Together, we can create a greener, healthier, and safer environment.
Role Overview:
Incumbents serve as ambassadors to the Parks Clean-up Volunteer program with responsibilities for litter clean-up and reporting on park conditions
Nature of Work:
- Visit the parks or trails to perform clean-ups and report on the unsafe or unusual conditions of the park/trail.
- Pick up garbage, move plastic water bottles, aluminum drink cans, and paper to a recycling bin.
- Complete parks clean-up Service Records for the work performed in the parks or trails and submit them to the Supervisor of Facilities and Parks.
- Scheduled clean-up events are planned once a month in spring, summer, and fall.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in assigned work areas and perform all tasks in compliance with safety guidelines and requirements.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Please be advised that volunteer hours will be between regular working hours, from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm during weekdays. Holidays are excluded. Volunteers will report directly to the Supervisor of Facilities and Parks. By filling out this application, you agree to commit to helping clean up one or more parks at least once a month for 1 to 2 hours.
Before completing this application form. Please review the criteria listed below. To be accepted as a parks clean-up volunteer, you must:
- Have willingness to work with other volunteers, and park visitors.
- Maintain a positive image when dealing with the public and have the ability to deal courteously with the public.
- Have ability to take directions from the Supervisor of Facilities and Parks.
- Follow safe working procedures.
Training and equipment will be provided to all valued parks clean-up volunteers.
