Ingersoll, ON – July 26, 2023
The Town of Ingersoll is excited and grateful for General Motor’s (GM) investment in the future of GM CAMI Assembly, and the community’s future. GM is planning to create approximately 300 new jobs and finalize construction of an approximately 400,000 square foot facility to assemble electric vehicle battery modules. This is a significant investment for Ingersoll and the entire southwestern Ontario manufacturing region.
GM’s commitment to expanding electric vehicle production is a testament to their vision for a sustainable and environmentally responsible future. Ingersoll is in the heart of the automotive industry’s transformation towards green technologies.
With production slated to commence in the second quarter of 2024 at the battery assembly facility, this investment helps solidify GM’s operations in Ingersoll as they produce the BrightDrop delivery vehicles. The addition of approximately 300 high quality jobs will create numerous opportunities for skilled workers and bolster prosperity in the community.
“I would like to congratulate and thank General Motors for their continued investment in the Ingersoll GM CAMI assembly plant.” said Mayor Brian Petrie. “This latest investment further ensures the future of the plant as a leading facility in the manufacturing of next generation electric vehicles, like the BrightDrop delivery vehicles, by the great people from Unifor Local 88. It also further solidifies Ingersoll, Ontario and Canada as an attractive place to invest in manufacturing!”
