Summer Student Employment – Town of Ingersoll
Each summer, the Town of Ingersoll offers valuable employment opportunities for students seeking to gain practical experience while contributing to their community. We recruit motivated and responsible individuals to assist in delivering essential municipal services throughout the summer months.
Opportunities are available in the following departments:
• Recreation (Camp, Safe Cycling)
• Museum
• Parks
• Public Works
These positions provide an excellent opportunity to develop skills, gain work experience, and make a positive impact in the Town of Ingersoll.
Please be advised that the number of available summer student positions may vary from year to year based on budgetary constraints and grant approvals. While the Town will endeavor to provide notification to candidates on the status of their application as soon as possible, final staffing numbers will not be determined until yearly funding decisions have been delivered by conferring organizations.
Hiring Timelines

Job Postings: Summer employment opportunities are typically posted between mid-December and early January.
Interviews: Interviews are ideally scheduled for mid-February, during post-secondary reading week, and will be conducted on-site at various Town locations.
Offers: Employment offers are generally extended in mid-March for review and acceptance.
Ongoing Recruitment: Additional interviews and offer letters may be issued as needed to meet staffing requirements.
Onboarding: Depending on the department, onboarding will occur between April and the first week of July.

To be eligible, youth must: · be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period* · be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment** and · have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. *The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The Behavioral Inclusion Counsellor is responsible for planning for the inclusion and supervision of camp participants with special needs. The incumbent will work one-on-one with parents, campers and fellow Camp Counsellors to develop individual support plans and interventions; provide guidance and instruction; and ensure best practices are embedded in day camp programming.
The Camp Counsellor is responsible for providing camp participants with a fun, safe and inclusive day camp experience. Working independently and as part of a collaborative team, the Camp Counsellor will develop and deliver daily and weekly programming, provide effective supervision of campers under his/her care and will ensure adherence to and effective communication of all established policies and procedures.
As the Collections Assistant, you will work primarily with the Collections Coordinator to help organize and care for the museum’s collection of artifacts, photographs, and documents. You will gain hands-on experience using the museum’s collection management software, PastPerfect, to input and cross-reference data. This work will support research requests and help locate items within the collection.
The Parks Maintenance Summer Student is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of Town parks, sports fields, facilities and boulevards through the performance of various activities including grass cutting and edging, planting and weeding of flower beds, grooming of ball diamonds, garbage removal, painting, etc.
The Public Works Summer Student is responsible for aiding the Public Works team with basic roads and works maintenance activities including painting, sign maintenance, traffic control, garbage removal, grass trimming etc.
The Safe Cycling Coordinator and Trails Specialist is responsible for promoting and supporting cycling and trails initiatives in Ingersoll.
As a Museum Visitor Experience Assistant, you will play a key role in enhancing the experience of museum visitors. Your primary responsibilities will include supporting tours, outreach programs, school programs, and general visitor services. You will also assist the Museum Manager and staff in researching, planning, and setting up exhibitions. This includes staffing the front desk, answering and directing phone calls, processing gift shop sales, assisting with camping, and managing and fulfilling research requests.
