Every municipality within Ontario that maintains a police force is required to have a Police Services Board in accordance with the Police Services Act, R.S.O. 1990. Police services in Ingersoll are provided by the Ontario Provincial Police pursuant to an agreement between the Town and the Province.
What is the Police Service Board? |
Every municipality in Ontario that contracts with the OPP or that has a municipal police force must have a civilian police service board. Police services boards are independent bodies established by provincial legislation called the Police Services Act. The boards represent community interests and are accountable to the Ministry of Community Safety & Correctional Services, and the Ontario Civilian Police Commission. |

Police Service Board Composition |
The Ingersoll Police Services Board has five (5) members: two members of Town Council, two citizens appointed by the province as community representatives, and one citizen appointed by Town Council as a community representative. To be considered for membership by appointment by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, please see the Police Services Board Vacancy Information Sheet
Council members and the citizen appointed by council serve for the duration of the Council term. Provincial appointees serve up to three-year terms, which expire at various times. At the first meeting each year, the Board appoints a Chairperson for that year. Current members:

How to use the program? |
If you have any information on any crime, you are requested to call Crime Stoppers at 421-TIPS(8477). Callers out of the Woodstock or Ingersoll area may call toll free at 1(800)-222-TIPS(8477). Crime Stoppers callers never have to identify themselves or give evidence in court and are eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.00. Crime Stoppers is NOT a police program, but is run by a board of directors made up of a group of concerned citizens within the county.
